UNIT OVERVIEW

This unit teaches you how to move and flip shapes on a coordinate plane. You will learn three main types of transformations:

• Reflections – flipping shapes across a line (like a mirror image)
• Translations – sliding shapes in a straight direction

These transformations change where a shape is, but they keep its size and shape the same.

What you will learn:

• Plot points and identify quadrants on the Cartesian plane
• Reflect points and shapes in the $x$-axis, $y$-axis, and the line $y = x$
• Translate points and shapes using vectors
• Identify which transformation was used
• Use correct notation for transformations
