UNIT OVERVIEW
This unit teaches you about three-dimensional objects (also called solids). You will learn how to calculate:
- Surface area – the total area of all the outside faces
- Volume – the amount of space inside
You will work with three types of 3D objects:
- Rectangular prisms (boxes)
- Triangular prisms
- Cylinders
These skills are useful in everyday life. For example:
- How much cardboard is needed to make a box?
- How much water can a tank hold?
- How much paint is needed to cover a wall?
