UNIT OVERVIEW
In this unit, you will use trigonometry to solve practical problems. You have already learned the basic trigonometric ratios (sine, cosine, and tangent) in Term 1. Now you will apply these ratios to real situations that engineers, surveyors, and pilots face every day.
By the end of this unit, you will be able to:
- Apply sine, cosine, and tangent ratios to solve problems with right-angled triangles
- Calculate unknown sides when you know angles and one side
- Find unknown angles when you know the sides of a triangle
- Solve problems involving angles of elevation and depression
- Work with bearings for navigation problems
- Solve multi-step problems involving two or more triangles
- Use clinometer measurements in calculations
