UNIT OVERVIEW
This revision unit brings together everything you learned in Term 1. You will revisit algebraic expressions, exponents, number patterns, equations and inequalities, and trigonometry.
The goal is not just to memorise formulas. You need to understand how ideas connect and practise solving problems the way they appear in exams.
By the end of this unit, you will be able to:
- Work confidently with real numbers, surds, and algebraic manipulation
- Apply all exponent laws, including rational (fractional) exponents
- Find general terms for linear number patterns
- Solve linear, quadratic, and simultaneous equations
- Solve and represent linear inequalities
- Use trigonometric ratios in right-angled triangles and in all four quadrants
Where these skills matter:
- Finance: Compound interest uses the formula — this needs exponent skills.
- Construction: Trigonometry helps calculate roof angles and ramp slopes.
- Data analysis: Number patterns help predict trends in sales, population, and scientific measurements.
