UNIT OVERVIEW
In this unit, you will learn how cells group together to form tissues. A tissue is a group of similar cells that work together to do a specific job.
Think of it like this: one brick cannot build a house, but many bricks organised together can. In the same way, one cell has limited power, but millions of cells working together can do amazing things—like pumping blood or moving water up a tall tree.
You will study:
- What tissues are and how cells become specialised
- Seven types of plant tissues
- Four types of animal tissues
- How tissue structure connects to tissue function
- Traditional medicine and modern biotechnology related to tissues
What you need to know already:
- Cell structure and organelles (from earlier lessons)
- How cells divide through mitosis
- Basic microscope skills
